This looks an interesting read. Get it here. We played the Pavilion.
When Freddy Bannister opened the doors of the Bath Pavilion for Monday night teen dances on 21st January 63, he expected it to last 6 months if he was lucky. Her could never have anticipated that his promotion would become a huge success, or that he would still in December 1969, having put on about 350 concerts at the venue. The quality, diversity, and depth of the musical talent on display at his concerts is extraordinary. Giants of Sixties rock and pop like Little Richard, Gene Vincent, The Rolling Stones, Beatles, Cilla Black, Kinks, Ike & Tina Turner, The Who, Cream, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, The Yardbirds, Led Zeppelin, and the Small Faces all appeared before adoring crowds in Bath. This book features not only the major headliners, but includes a chapter on the local Bath/Bristol groups who were making a name for themselves, and who were competent and popular enough to achieve some success in their own right.
