The picturesque city of Wells

 Had to go to Wells today which is the smallest city in the country (except the city of London which sounds like cheating). Susan took these pictures of the Bishop's Palace and environs. I used to work in Wells. It is a pleasant trip across the Mendip hills for about 10 miles. It's an ecclesiastical city part of the Diocese of Bath and Wells.

Back when I was a child we knew the gatekeeper at Wells Palace and the swans were trained to ring a bell when they needed feeding. Famous they were. Read about the tradition here
