Animals & Men 2006

This was a crazy day. An Ants tribute show. In Soho. We brought a minibus full of people. Someone paid our parking fee which was nice. Brought cider and took over the dressing room. About 2006. Fun though. Met some interesting people. Took our son who was underage but no one said anything. About 6 bands on the bill. Did 3 Ant covers, B-side Baby, it Doesn't matter and Plastic Surgery. Organised by Madam Stan.

Here. This is a great movie. One of the best mining movies and that says a lot.

Matewan (/ˈmeɪtwÉ’n/) is a 1987 American independent[2][3] drama film written and directed by John Sayles, and starring Chris Cooper (in his film debut), James Earl Jones, Mary McDonnell and Will Oldham, with David Strathairn, Kevin Tighe and Gordon Clapp in supporting roles.[4] The film dramatizes the events of the Battle of Matewan, a coal miners' strike in 1920 in Matewan, a small town in the hills of West Virginia.

Hillsbridge Quartet

Listening to an audio book from the library. Number 3 of the Hillsbridge quartet. If you don't know them they are a series of 4 novels set in a fictionalized version of Radstock. Book one Black Mountains is set during World War One the second during the General Strike and this one the Second World War. They are worth a read. Or a listen. Audio books are fun as the narrator does the local accents. Great stuff.

Here

Starring Jasmine Trinca in the title role, the captivating debut from writer/director Léa Todorov tells the story of the famed Italian physician and educator who invented a teaching method that is still being used today in 35,000 schools bearing her name across the globe. At the turn of the 20th century, Lili d’Alengy (Leïla Bekhti. 'All Your Faces'), a famous Parisian courtesan and darling of the Parisian cabaret scene has a shameful secret – a daughter with a disability, Tina, whom she must hide to protect her career. Unwilling and unable to care for Tina, Lili decides to leave Paris for Rome. In Rome, Lili seeks help from Maria Montessori (Jasmine Trinca, 'Fortunata'), a doctor who is developing a teaching method for children with learning difficulties. But Maria also has a secret – a child born out of wedlock, and soon she will be forced to choose between her career and her child. Together, the two women will help each other to find their place in the world and establish a new vision of education.
