It doesn't seem to be Easter without this event on Easter Monday but it is cancelled these days. I think it got too busy. Years ago it was great you would always bump into old friends as it is between Frome and Radstock. Mells is rather a posh village but in the field next to the village they used to host an English Civil War battle. I didn't take part. Don't know why as it was close. Possibly quality issues. They would have stalls in the streets and vintage vehicles and marquees in the field. Mells was pretty close you could easily cycle it but they used to run free buses from Frome and Radstock. The Bad Detectives always played the beer tent. You would park in a field and pay a few quid. It was the start of the outdoor event social calendar. One year Celia got on the wrong bus and found herself in Frome but managed to get a lift back with Xerxes. Our old next door neighbours used to run the Walled garden at Mells and gave us free pizza one year. Had some good times. The pub the
Talbot used to do well too.
