Do the Do - the Wolf with Hubert Sumlin
Here. A playlist I made. Hubert Sumlin's birthday today so give it a spin. He is one of the best guitarists of that era. Very influential.
Robert Nighthawk Eli's Place Maxwell Street 1964
Saturday night selection. One of my favourite clips on YouTube. Robert Nighthawk wiki
Here to watch. The whole live album is on Spotify here
In the 1930s and 1940s, when many black musicians came to Chicago from the segregated South, they brought with them outdoor music.
But when the early blues musicians began playing outside on Maxwell Street—the place where they could be heard by the greatest number of people—they realized they needed either a louder than standard Resonator guitar (e.g., Arvella Gray) or amplifiers and electrical instruments (e.g., Jim Brewer) in order to be heard. Over several decades, the use of these new instruments, and the interaction between established city musicians such as Big Bill Broonzy and new arrivals from the South, produced a new musical genre—electrified, urban blues, later coined, "Chicago Blues."

Alligator (1980) full movie
Alligator is a 1980 American independent horror film directed by Lewis Teague and written by John Sayles. It stars Robert Forster, Robin Riker and Michael V. Gazzo. It also includes an appearance by actress Sue Lyon in her last screen role. Set in Chicago, the film follows a police officer and a reptile expert who track an enormous, ravenous man-eating alligator flushed down the toilet years earlier, that is attacking residents after escaping from the city's sewers.
Animals & Men
Us in 2009. Photo Jane Barnes. The location is the former Wellsway Colliery (engine house) in Radstock. We were planning on calling the e.p. we were rehearsing Songs from the Somerset Coalfield. But we got talked out of it. Wellsway Colliery was the scene of an incident that claimed the lives of 12 miners in 1839. Rope cut by person or persons unknown.
You can hear the e.p. we recorded here https://freemusicarchive.org/music/Animals__Men/Convulsive_ep/

The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams 1974 full movie
Spawned a tv series.
Here. I was going through a list of 1974 movies seeing if Susan had seen them. She saw this one but later than 1974. Wiki. She went with my brother and got mistaken for a child as she was told off for smoking - in the days when you could smoke in the cinema. Susan used to get that a bit then. Mistaken for a younger person.
Country Life Roxy Music 1974
An l.p. that is 50 years old. Listen on Spotify here
Susan bought it. I was oblivious.
Pinball after work
Celia is shooting some silver balls after work. Bristol. Apparently the pinball are in the entrance so you can simply slot coins in and not pay the room fee.
Le farò da padre 1974
Another of my favourite Italian (although she was English) film stars in adult films that had her big break in 1974 was Teresa Ann Savoy. This film 'I'll take her like a father' (which is a comedy but I have never seen it) is up on Youtube this time with English subtitles. Soundtrack on Spotify here
Laura Gemser 1974

Cadillac Records Full movie (2008)
I Ain't Got You Jimmy Reed 1955
Here. Written by Clarence Carter. Recorded by many people in the rhythm and blues world. Count Bishops Yardbirds all manner. Billy Boy Arnold did a good version.
Army Surplus
Every town used to have one of these. Greatcoats, boots, army shirts and camping stuff. Frome's was called Mendip Trading. Exciting really seeing what they had. Before my time you used to get motor scooters in crates apparently. I suppose they do still exist but military fashions have changed and current army surplus isn't the best stuff. I don't like wearing camouflage either.

The Warriors (1979) original trailer
Here. This movie spanned the generations. Me and Susan saw it at the cinema when it came out. Not a big film just another film but we enjoyed it. It wasn't popular. Fast forward about 30 years and our kids got into it and a computer game came out so you could fight as your favourite gang. Fantastic. Wiki
I Wish You Would the Yardbirds 1965
Here. My favourite Yardbirds cover. Billy Boy Arnold wrote it. Bowie did it on Pinups. The Yardbirds I associate with swinging London.
I'm a Man the Yardbirds 1965
This was one we used to play when we used to Busk. The blueprint for Bowie's Jean Genie. Of this cover No Diddley said it was 'beautiful'.
ARETHA FRANKLIN - Rough Lover / I Surrender, Dear (1962)

Van Morrison Fleece
Susan found my Van Morrison fleece. No I didn't buy it. We had a bass player who was friends with one of his road crew and as a reward for unloading the merch to a lock up he paid him with this. When he heard I liked Van Morrison he gave it to me.
Somerset Mines Rescue
Subway Sect Out of Touch (1977)
From the movie Punk in London. I have posted this many times but I like it so much.
