This is my Dad when he had his 15 minutes of fame. He was attending Blackpool Labour party conference and fascist Colin Jordan came in shouting about Rhodesia and gets given the bums rush by Dad. On the main news at the time. Our next door neighbours' phone got red hot as everybody rang up to say 'was that our John?'

The Rolling Stones - You Can’t Always Get What You Want
Director: Michael Lindsay-Hogg
You Can't Always Get What You Want - Wikipedia
Jagger commented on the song's beginnings:
"You Can't Always Get What You Want" was something I just played on the acoustic guitar—one of those bedroom songs. It proved to be quite difficult to record because Charlie couldn't play the groove and so Jimmy Miller had to play the drums. I'd also had this idea of having a choir, probably a gospel choir, on the track, but there wasn't one around at that point. Jack Nitzsche, or somebody, said that we could get the London Bach Choir and we said, "That will be a laugh.".[4][5]

The Bold Grenadier (One Morning in May) - Far from the Madding Crowd (1967) Dir. John Schlesinger
Often known as The Grenadier and the Lady, this a popular song in the West Country. H.E.D. Hammond collected five variants in Somerset and Dorset between 1905–7 including one from W. Barlett at Wimborne, and in 1950 Peter Kennedy recorded Walter Haynes singing it in the bar of the Ilchester Arms at Abbotsbury. The song was also popular in other parts of the country and frequently turns up in America. It is a favourite with the Holme Valley Beagles in South Yorkshire where it’s called Where the Watter Rattles and George Dunn sang it in the Midlands under the title The Nightingale Sings.

Divine - Walk Like A Man (1985) HQ
We bought this 45.
Divine (October 19, 1945 -- March 7, 1988), also known as Harris Glenn Milstead, was an American actor, singer and drag queen. A character actor who often performed female roles in both cinema and theater, Divine also adopted a female drag persona in his musical performances, leading People magazine to describe him as the "Drag Queen of the Century". He was often associated with independent filmmaker John Waters and starred in ten of Waters's films, usually in a leading role. Concurrent with his acting career, he also had a successful career as a disco singer during the 1980s, at one point being described as "the most successful and in-demand disco performer in the world."

Gypsy Lane Frome
This is a road in Frome. It is near Frome College and we used to do cross-country runs down there. Romani people lived there. My memories are from the 70s and I think it is different now. One day back then my class was taken by a teacher for a nature walk down there and a vehicle pulled up and two Romanis got out and offered to beat up our teacher as they were beaten at school and didn't like them. We had to persuade them not to beat him up. When they left the teacher nervously said 'I wasn't scared. I have been in more dangerous situations than that' - he was from Africa.

Gall had said that she did not understand the song's subtext when she recorded it at age 18.[5] By Gall's account, she did not realize until later why the filming of the clip attracted so many visitors to the set.[2] She was then upset – "mortified, hiding herself away for weeks, refusing to face anyone".[6] Gall said that she had sung Gainsbourg's songs "with an innocence of which I'm proud" and "was pained to then learn that he had turned the situation to his advantage, mocking me."[6] In a 2001 television interview, Gall said that she had felt "betrayed by the adults around me" afterwards.[2]
