Privilege (1967) ORIGINAL TRAILER
Directed by Peter Watkins. With Paul Jones, Jean Shrimpton and Mark London. Wiki
Freddie And The Dreamers "Do The Freddie" on The Ed Sullivan Show, April 25, 1965
Part of the British invasion as mentioned by Tom Hanks. I was very young but I liked them. So much of 60s pop had what I might term playground pop appeal.
Horseplay Eddie and the Hot Rods with Lew Lewis
Short playlist of the 2nd best r'n'b band of that era. In my opinion neither the Rods or Lew Lewis would ever equal this greatness.

We're Gonna Get married Bo Diddley 1966
One of my favourite Bo Diddley singles. Geoff Barker used to do this great rock'n'roll show on the radio and he announced that he couldn't figure out what the girl singers were singing and I must admit I was banjaxed but a couple of weeks later someone announced it was 'Ooh girl I'm so glad' so now we know. Miss that show though.

Kogar's Jungle Juice
" Here is a completely STUFFED episode of Jungle Juice! I got so carried away, I went over 2 hours! This show has my little tribute to Dexter Romweber, so that means 2 sets of rockabilly, one featuring songs that Flat Duo Jets did over the years. What an amazing and talented human being who will be sorely missed. There aren’t enough folks like that in the world….This show also features artists like; The Original Starfires, The De Velles, The Twisters, The Four Casts, Billy Gayles, The Rivingtons, Alan Barnicoat, Gene Maltais, The Phantom, The Swamp Rats and Link Wray! Full Set List at the Boss Radio 66 Blogspot!
Last week’s show was Number 1 in Doo Wop and Rhythm and Blues! Second in Blues and Garage Rock! Thanks for the support! "

Days of Hope 2 (1975)
Episode Two: 1921" begins with Ben's desertion from the Army. He joins the Durham Miners in their resistance against oppressive measures introduced by a Government fearing another Bolshevik Revolution. He befriends striking miner Joel Barrett (Gary Roberts) and experiences the lying promises of a mine owner. One scene where the gentlemanly owner offers some miners refreshments is ironically modelled on 1960s Labour Prime-Minister Harold Wilsons "beer and sandwiches" invitations to trade unionists at Number 10, Downing Street. The episode concludes with the betrayal of an agreement and the arrest of Ben and other miners at dawn.

Not Fade Away the Rolling Stones June 1964
Here. So this clip is pretty exciting. You can see why they made it. I guess 64 was their breakthrough year. Certainly when I was first aware of them.
Wiki. The Rolling Stones' version of "Not Fade Away" was one of their first hits. Recorded in January 1964 and released by Decca Records on February 21, 1964, with "Little by Little" as the B-side, it was their first Top 10 hit in the United Kingdom, reaching number three.[
Wicked Bristol Hippodrome
Our daughters had the day off and went to see this musical in Bristol. They loved it. Lots of twists, the costumes were good so thumbs up from them.
The Upsetters (Little Richard) im in love again. 1962

Animals & Men Oh Death recorded in Lyon 2009
. I think this is good. It went down really well when we did it live as they knew the original. Photos by Jane Barnes.
Howlin' Wolf My Mind is Ramblin' 1966
This is a little known song by the Wolf but I love it. Partly about a Rocket Oldsmobile car. We used to do this in the Mud Dogs.
Animals & Men Just a dot 2009
Pic at Lyon by Jane Barnes. We had some spare time there so we recorded some songs there. Came out pretty good. You can listen to them here. The venue was a squatted complex in an industrial estate that included a venue studio, charity shop plus accommodation. I think it used to be a kitchen unit sales centre. Closed now.

Days of Hope 1975 part 1
Here. I am going to post this great BBC series by Ken Loach. One a week. My parents were particularly enthusiastic about this and I remember it was powerful. It is the only movie I have seen which deals with the General Strike of 26.
Days of Hope is a BBC television drama serial produced in 1975. The series dealt with the lives of a working-class family from the turmoils of the First World War in 1916 to the General Strike in 1926. It was written by Jim Allen, produced by Tony Garnett and directed by Ken Loach.
The novelization by Jim Allen which my parents had. I think they corresponded with the author. |
Johnny West
I didn't have any of this range of 1/6 figures but my cousin did. I did have a Marx Black Knight though. Tv commercial.

Adam & The Ants - Nietzsche Baby (Live Chelmsford 1979)
This is one of the best Ants songs in my opinion. Well best obscure one anyway. They started their set off with this one for a while.

Jesters of Newport Stormy (1965)
I like this. Covered by the Gories. From Balboa California. Just heard on Kogar's jungle juice.
Terraplanes You excite me baby 1982
This song is one I particularly like. Shame we didn't send a demo to John Peel but we were a little lacking in confidence. This encapsulates the notion of Shangri-Las meets Link Wray that I was trying to achieve. Bandcamp for downloads.
Miss Johni Naylor Red wine for my blues
Just heard this on dj roulette on Boss Radio 66. Amy Winehouse should have covered this.
Terraplanes review by Dave Massey
Rock journalist Dave Massey was there last night. He reviewed us in Out West the local Bristol what's on but said last night it was also in Sounds which didn't know as we weren't buying Sounds at the time. Coined the phrase 'impish Susan'.
Vague fanzine book launch at Bath Chapter 22
Great night great book. We met up with Puddle our drummer from about 43 years ago. He is in the centre of the pic. Organised by Dave Mackay and Caryne. Met Tom Vague too. We (Animals & Men) are in the book which is worth getting if you like fanzines.
