If you want a pleasant place base your trip to Northeast Somerset then I recommend Tucker's which is between Radstock and Norton St Philip. The cider at Tucker's is the best. Weekends they have live music and food but if you just want the ambience of an old cider house you can have that too. Near Bath but in the country. Dog friendly. Used to be an old turnpike and a farm, then a cider house. Short look at the interior here
