The Littlest Rebel · The Fall 1990

Wild Zero 1999 ENG SUB - Zombies, Rock and Roll, Rockabilly and Noise Rock

Our eldest chose this one. We saw Guitar Wolf.

Having been a zombie fan for as long as i can remember i will never forget when i saw Wild Zero for the first time.

Zombies, Comedy, Rockabillys and most of all Guitar Wolf. Guitar Wolf is a legendary noise-rock band that has been a staple in the genre for almost 40 years. barely tuned guitars, badly mixed recording sessions and constant guitar amp feedback. Guitar Wolf is an experience to watch perform. And you get a taste of it with this movie. Yes, Wild Zero is kind of a musical with it's several performances of the band playing their most famous songs. With constant guitar screeches and pyrotechnics that would make most bands blush in awe. Also, Japan is still in some ways regressive when it comes to gender roles. Wild Zero is pioneering in showing a liberal view on a type of love story that is still rare to see in Japanese movies. Also, the band themselfs funded, produced and stars in the movie as themselfs. Truly legendary film, yet. It's super hard to find in physical format, the newest release was pre-covid, german blu-ray. And for some unexplainable reason only contains german subtitles. The film has never been available on streaming or VOD. The movie has nothing but good reviews from fans and critics. It's still more or less impossible to find online. I upload this one due to me wanting more people to discover this honestly amazing piece of horror-cinema. The second it becomes easier to find i will de-list it.

The Johnson Brothers - Casting My Spell 1959

THE PIRATES Castin' My Spell (1964)

We used to play this in the early days of the Bad Detectives - still remember all the lyrics!

THE PIRATES (England, UK) Mick Green, guitar; Johnny Spence, bass vocals; Frank Farley (drums)

THE PIRATES are best known for being Johnny Kidd's backing band (Johnny Kidd & the Pirates), but THE PIRATES' history is a long one to tell, and there's plenty of information on the internet for anyone interested. Focusing on this song, "Casting My Spell," it was the B-side on the 1964 single "My Babe." By then, they had already worked for several years with Johnny Kidd, who authorized this legendary trio to record and perform under the name THE PIRATES. "Casting My Spell" is a fantastic cover, originally released by the rockabilly group The Johnson Brothers in 1959. Casting My Spell ( E. & A. Johnson; Walter J. Ridley, producer) 1964.

Tim Rose - Hey Joe (1969)

Hey Joe - Wikipedia  'Singer Tim Rose recorded the song in 1966, and copyrighted it as his own arrangement of a traditional song. No documentary evidence has been forthcoming to support an assertion that "Hey Joe" is a wholly traditional work.[10] In 1998, Rose told writer Spencer Leigh that he had learned the song in 1960 from folk singer Vince Martin.[11]'

The Cougars - Saturday Nite At The Duck-Pond (1963)

The Cougars were a short-lived band, formed in Bristol, England, in 1961. They specialised in rock music, mostly instrumental versions of pop and classical pieces.[1]

Their single "Saturday Nite at the Duck-Pond" used music from Swan Lake by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.[4] The song achieved some notoriety for being banned by the BBC,[5] despite which it spent eight weeks in the UK Singles Chart, peaking at No. 33.[6] The reason for the ban was reported in the musical press, saying Saturday Nite at the Duck Pond was "a travesty of a major classical work".[4]

Aurora Monster kits

Back in the early 70s my Mum worked for a model kit distributor who had Aurora kits as a major part of the business. In the summer holidays she would bring home damaged kits to make - all sorts - I remember making a submarine for example. But the best for us was the monster range - with optional glow in the dark heads and parts - Godzilla, King Kong all great - much less WW2 fixated than Airfix.

Psych Out 1968

Psychedelic Britannia (BBC4 documentary) with Pink Floyd, Soft Machine, Beatles and more

Broadcast date is 23 October 2015.

From BBC website : Documentary exploring the rise and fall of the most visionary period in British music history: five kaleidoscopic years between 1965 and 1970 when a handful of dreamers reimagined pop music. When a generation of British R&B bands discovered LSD, conventions were questioned. From out of the bohemian underground and into the pop mainstream, the psychedelic era produced some of the most ground-breaking music ever made, pioneered by young improvising bands like Soft Machine and Pink Floyd, then quickly taken to the charts by the likes of the Beatles, Procol Harum, the Small Faces and the Moody Blues, even while being reimagined in the country by bucolic, folk-based artists like the Incredible String Band and Vashti Bunyan. The film is narrated by Nigel Planer with contributions and freshly-shot performances from artists who lived and breathed the psych revolution - Paul McCartney, Ginger Baker, Robert Wyatt, Roy Wood, the Zombies, Mike Heron, Vashti Bunyan, Joe Boyd, Gary Brooker, Arthur Brown, Kenney Jones, Barry Miles, the Pretty Things and the Moody Blues.

Bad Detectives Cider Safari

If you like apple juice but hate to think

I’m gonna tell you ‘bout the greatest drink
From Mudgeley to the Kalahari
Won’t you come on a Cider Safari with me?

If you’re shakin’ all over and lacking zest
A gallon of farmhouse works the best
Come sup with the angels drink with the Devil
Have a lost weekend on the Somerset levels

Yeah, Drink, drink, drink – the Cider Safari
Drink, drink, drink – the Cider Safari
Drink, drink, drink – the Cider Safari
Let’s go drinkin’ now, everybody’s thirsty now – Cider Safari

You can have it cloudy or fizzy with ice
Put it in a Snakebite, it still tastes nice
You can knock it back when you’ve got the bug
Your supermarket sells it in a three litre jug

Well it comes in a bottle of plastic or glass
It doesn’t judge you on creed or class
From the lowliest tramp to royalty
Won’t you come on a Cider Safari with me?

It’s a party in a bottle, a rockin’ scene
But beware it’s got the fighting gene
Read the government warning, don’t listen to me
And drink alcohol respons-ib-a-lly

Halloween With The Addams Family (Full Episode) | MGM

Susan found this. A pair of bank robbers are welcomed as Halloween trick-or-treaters by Morticia and Gomez. The creepy atmosphere of the house, Morticia's smoldering holiday punch, and Lurch's ominous presence impel the crooks to abandon their plans to add Addams money and jewelry to their bank loot.

Sham 69 Hurry Up Harry 1978

The great Saturday night song. It captures that time when Saturday night meant mates calling for each other on the way to go boozing. 'No I don't want a cup of tea'.  I didn't like it at the time - I was over Sham 69 but now nostalgia lends enchantment.
