Terraplanes Evil Going On The Granary Bristol early 81.
There was a tv documentary about the Granary and they were going to use this as it was the only clip they could find but a sequence of the Stranglers turned up.
Bristol Punk City
![]() |
| Haymarket. Virgin records were there/ |
To me Bristol was where I saw most of the punk bands and records I bought were to do with Bristol. I was at printing college and so we had digs and I went out every evening. I used to go to the centre at lunch times too. It is where I met Susan. Lots of record shops, clothes shops and clubs. Well, compared to Frome that is. The Cortinas were the biggest local band at that time and they were on local telly (Points West) once and I live in hope I may one day see that again. We did eventially spend a lot of time in London but the early years were mainly Bristol. The Dugout club was our commonest hang out. Bristol bands like the Android Pups played there. Walking home in the early hours to get mugged but we were skint so it didn't matter. . The Granary was good to see bands and we actually played there once. Susan used to go to the Barton Hill Youth club but I never did. Their gigs were at the weekend and I used to be in Frome at weekends. Clothes were Paradise Garage or maybe Boney Moronie next door. London styles. There was a comic shop in Bristol too where you could also buy fanzines and badges so another useful port of call.
THE PIGS - Youthanasia: Original 1977 Bristol Punk Rock [Full Compilation, 2020]
"The Pigs were a Bristol-based Punk Rock band formed in 1977. In August that year they recorded an EP, “Youthanasia”, for the independent label New Bristol Records. They were featured on bills with bands like Siouxsie and the Banshees and their high-energy live shows generated positive reviews on magazines such as Melody Maker. Unfortunately, the chance to open for the Sex Pistols went up in smoke when the venue mysteriously burned down the night before the gig… Nevertheless, the EP enabled the Pigs to play at famous venues like Marquee and Roxy Club, often supporting The Cortinas. However, disillusionment set in at the increasingly mainstream direction of the punk movement: early in 1978, they split up."

In cinemas in August. I like 80s Sword and Sorcery movies and this seems to recreate that vibe.

The Wild Story of The Kinks Ban in America (From Ray’s Perspective)
In this video, we dive into the story of why The Kinks were banned from performing in the United States at the height of the British Invasion—and how that exile shaped their sound, their identity, and ultimately their legacy. From Ray Davies’ clashes with American unions to the band’s reputation for onstage chaos, we unpack the rumors, the reality, and the lasting impact of being cut off from the world’s biggest music market. The ban may have sidelined their commercial momentum, but it also pushed The Kinks to lean into their English roots and craft some of their most innovative and enduring work.
Crosstown Traffic Jimi Hendrix Experience (1968)
Definitely my favourite of his. Contains comb and paper kazoo by Hendrix.
"Crosstown Traffic" is a song written by Jimi Hendrix and recorded by the Jimi Hendrix Experience for their third album, Electric Ladyland (1968). It was released as a single after "All Along the Watchtower", reaching number 52 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number 37 on the UK Singles Chart.[3]

The Small Faces - Lazy Sunday (1968)
Lazy Sunday (Small Faces song) - Wikipedia
Small Faces were an English rock band from London, founded in 1965. The group originally consisted of Steve Marriott, Ronnie Lane, Kenney Jones, and Jimmy Winston, with Ian McLagan replacing Winston as the band's keyboardist in 1966. The band was one of the most acclaimed and influential mod groups of the 1960s, recording hit songs such as "Itchycoo Park", "Lazy Sunday", "All or Nothing", and "Tin Soldier", as well as their concept album Ogdens' Nut Gone Flake. They later evolved into one of the UK's most successful psychedelic bands until 1969.

Alligator Rosie Bad Detectives
When I was growing up in Frome when it got really hot like now I would go down Vallis Vale. It is a great spot with a babbling stream where you could catch crayfish. Old Lime kilns and quarries are also part of this area. The Bad Detectives shot this video down there. Enjoy.

Somewhere near to Tuckers is Farleigh Castle which is worth a visit. On the border to Wiltshire. Has a place on the river where you can swim whiich we visited when the kids were little. We did a few reenactments there too over the years. Andy our drummer was in a video for the Lords of the New Church there in the 80s.

This spot is still a place to find buskers. If you visit North Somerset be sure to visit Wells. It's about 21 miles from Bath. Camp at Tucker's Grave naturally. I used to work in Wells - best place to watch the Carnival too.

Do you remember this? I don't. Looks good though. Wiki says
Jabberjaw, a 15 ft (4.6 m) long amphibious great white shark, is the drummer for The Neptunes, a rock group made up of four humans—Biff, Shelly, Bubbles and Clamhead—who live in an underwater civilization.[1] Jabberjaw and The Neptunes travel to various underwater cities where they encounter and deal with assorted megalomaniacs and supervillains who want to conquer the undersea world.[2]
