Sweet Liberty (1986) Full movie.
Graham Bond Organisation Harmonica 1965
A song from Gonks Go Beat. Very good but it is slightly off-putting when the sax comes in.
From Russia with books
So my illustrations have been used in a series of Russian books on the French and Indian war. I think the author Alex Stepkin has figured out a way to send me copies.

STORMSKERRY MAJA (2024) - Official HD Trailer - Only In Cinemas
Trailer here
Based on the popular book series by Anni Blomqvist, the new film from Tiina Lymi ('Happier Times', 'Grump') is an epic 19th Century historical drama about the lives of a couple who settle on a windswept island in the isolated Ã…land archipelago.
When young peasant Maja (Amanda Jansson, 'Midnight Sun') is married off to humble fisherman Janne (Linus Troedsson), a man she barely knows, they move to the remote island of Stormskerry to begin their family life. Her new environment is not welcoming, with survival a relentless challenge, but Maja soon falls for the rugged beauty and for her new husband. Amidst the hardships of their existence, Maja begins to become aware of a new era for women.
Maja and Janne have children and life is steady until the Crimean War lands on their doorstep and her journey becomes a test of resilience as she discovers a love that transcends the boundaries of life and death.
A major box office hit in Finland in early 2024, the beautiful and moving STORMSKERRY MAJA surrenders to the epic landscape and delivers a meditation on life, death, lust, sorrow and love.

Wife selling
I haven't found any reference to it online but I believe Buckland Dinham was the location of the Wife selling which inspired Thomas Hardy. Wife-selling wiki

Bell Inn at Buckland Dinham
I like the village of Buckland Dinham. I knocked about there as a teen and did things like going to the youth club and the Fountain Inn (no longer there). The Bell is a good place and you can camp there. Webpage
Midsomer Norton Town Fayre
This is happening tomorrow. Article here. Should be good. We will take some photos. To be opened by Dan Norris the man who beat Jacob Rees-Mogg in the recent election. We met him once before. There was a pub quiz in aid of the Labour party in Buckland Dinham and me, Susan and my parents formed a team and won. I think the prize was a bottle of wine but my folks were so pleased. Their friends the Joneses were there. Good times.
Robert Crumb Oh Death
Great visualisation of the song by Charley Patton and Bertha Lee Pate. Hear it here. We covered this song on our 10 inch e.p. To Live and Die in the West Country.
Hear us do it hereRobert Johnson Terraplane Blues 1936
Here. This was his biggest hit in his lifetime. Difficult to say a hit because records of sales didn't survive but the influence can be assessed.
Escaping the Delta
Was pleased to pick this up for 50p! Robert Johnson was the first pre war bluesman I liked as a teen so he has a special appeal to me. Listen to his Preachin' Blues here

The Riot (2023) trailer
Here. It's a rebellion of Ore miners in 1907 Norway. I like this type of film. They are few and far between.
Junior Wells Come on in this house 1960
''And if I had a million dollars I'd give every dime just to hear you call me daddy one more time".
I believe this was a B-side to Little by Little. Is very good. Give it a spin. Earl Hooker on guitar. B.B. King said of Earl Hooker "to me he is the best of modern guitarists. Period. With the slide he was the best. It was nobody else like him, he was just one of a kind".[3]

Cubs do your best. We will do our best
This is the type of uniform we were in the 60s. I was forced to go. Similarly Sunday school. In the cubs we didn't go anywhere or do anything. Just met in a hall and played games. Where I first met Kev Saunders.
Sandie Shaw and the Smiths Hand in Glove 1984
We weren't that taken by the Smiths - in fact this is the only one we bought.
