Llandoger Trow Bristol

Opposite the Old Duke is this famous pub. Dates from the 1660s and was possibly the inspiration for the Admiral Benbow inn in Treasure Island. Wiki

The Old Duke Bristol

A pub opposite the Granary in Welsh Back Bristol. Dates from 1770s. Web. When I met Susan we went in there. There was a jazz three piece playing. Still is a jazz and blues pub.

The Granary Bristol

This was another venue we used to frequent in the 70s. We played there once too - here. Saw the Vibrators and Pirates there plus others I have forgotten. We even went there on Saturday Night when it was frequented by heavy rock fans but they never gave us any trouble. On two levels so you could watch from upstairs. There was a tv programme on the Granary and they were going to use our footage but they found a clip of the Stranglers playing there instead.

As it is nowadays

The Sun is Shining Jimmy Reed 1957

Classic from Jimmy Reed. A euphoric blues. One for today.

Bristol 77 the Dugout club

When I was a teen I attended college in Bristol learning about printing. We did it in blocks of about a month and initially we stayed in digs in nearby houses. I never once stayed in while I was there. My housemates were naval types and so I would hop on the bus and go see a film if there was nothing else to do.

Ashley Down College. Was originally an orphanage.
Of course we went to gigs. That's how I met Susan. We used to hang out at a club in Park Row called the Dugout which became famous later during the Trip-hop era. They had punk bands there and stayed open late. We got mugged once but we didn't have any money so it was no big deal. One time a camera crew came down from Bristol University making a film about the punk scene and interviewed us. Would love to see that one day.

Psych Out (1968) Full Movie

 Here

Psych-Out is a 1968 American psychedelic film about hippies, psychedelic music and recreational drugs starring Susan Strasberg, Jack Nicholson (the film's leading man despite being billed under supporting player Dean Stockwell) and Bruce Dern. It was produced and released by American International Pictures. The film was directed by Richard Rush, and the cinematographer was László Kovács.

The film was originally titled The Love Children, but was changed at the request of distributors who worried that audiences might think it was "a film about bastards." Producer Samuel Z. Arkoff came up with the new title of Psych-Out based on a recent successful reissue of Psycho.[2]

The film's special effects were created by stunt coordinator Gary Kent.[3]

The majority of the songs in the film and on the original soundtrack album were performed by the Storybook, a San Fernando Valley garage band.[4] The version of "The Pretty Song from Psych-Out" that appears on the film's soundtrack album was recorded by the Storybook, but the version heard in the film was by Strawberry Alarm Clock.

AND THE BEAT GOES ON - The Sonny and Cher Story (1999)

The Ballroom Baby Please Don't Go (1967)

Here. As heard on Boss Radio 66.

Rate your music says

A studio supergroup comprised of Curt Boettcher, Jim Bell, Michele O'Malley and Sandy Salisbury with additional assistance from Lee Mallory, the Ballroom were an ahead-of-their-time psychedelic vocal harmony outfit. Though they recorded nearly two albums worth of material for Warner Brothers, they were mysteriously dropped from their contract, and all that appeared was a sole 45.

Surfing Fundamentals

Picked up this book for 50p. First published 1985. It's really good. Covers it all history techniques glossary. If you have one surf book it might be a good one to have this one.

Acted in films in the early 70s including Hammer horrors. Bio. Worked at Biba. Then became a model.

Beatles Everybody's trying to be my baby 1964

Here. 1964 was the year I discovered rock and roll. The Beatles For Sale album I had for my birthday and there were quite a few covers of classics. In those days I used to be confused by the lyrics taking them literally. 'Well they took some honey. From a tree. Dressed it up and they called it me'. What sort of behaviour was that?. Originally by Carl Perkins of course.

Scarborough Fair Heavy Traffic (1973)

Here. Sérgio Mendes and Brasil '66. I asked Susan whether she liked this treatment and she said not really. I suppose it is more my cup of tea.

Jonathan Hornblower's Radstock steam engine.

Been reading about this. In 1782. Hornblower was Cornish and was litigated against by  James Watt. 1782. For a Mr. Winwood. Was working until 1801.

Animals & Men 'i' 2008

This was a film Susan put together comprising some scenes of Radstock centre. Radstock centre has changed a lot since then there's been a lot of development. At the end are some bits we filmed at gigs at Brighton and Frome. Susan wrote this song on her 50th birthday. I added the music. Here are all our videos.

Glastonbury 2024

As I said I have only been once in 92 but I usually watch some of the tv coverage of some of it but this year we didn't bother probably for the first time. None of the acts appealed to me. I thought about tracking down PJ Harvey but was put off as her recent stuff doesn't really appeal. I guess I am officially old.
