Mighty Long Time - Sonny Boy Williamson (Trumpet) 1951

A minimalist anthem to me. So good.

Recording fact/trivia: Williamson and his harmonica are backed on this recording solely by the voice of Cliff Givens, imitating the sound of a walking bass with his voice, while using a broom for rhythm.

Givens was singing bass with the Southern Sons Quartet, when original Ink Spots bass singer, Hoppy Jones, died in 1944. Givens joined The Ink Spots, eventually being shoved out by lead singer Bill Kenny in favor of Kenny's twin brother.. Givens also spent many years as The Dominoes bass singer.
