THE DETROIT COBRAS "As Long As I Have You" 2008

We had the original of this the other day by Garnett Mimms..

This is the Detroit Cobras

This is a good selection of the brilliant band. So sad that I will never see them now but of course the music lives on.

Jon Spencer and the Hitmakers coming to Bristol

Sadie Hound Dog Taylor 1973

Happy Birthday Hound Dog Taylor. This is one of my favourites.

Muddy Waters : Too Young To Know (Chess, 1951)

Muddy was in his prime in 1951.

Dave Clark Five When 1965

I love this song and the visuals too from the movie Catch Us If You Can. There's lots of West Country locations and this is on the Mendips I believe. But the song is great too.

Glen Campbell - Wichita Lineman (Live Goodtime Hour)

Wiki on the song. Heard an interview with the songwriter Jimmy Webb of this on Marc Riley last night.

Bath city walls

Photographed in 1849. Bath city walls wiki. In 1685 Monmouth's army approached the city walls which were manned by the Somerset Militia but having no heavy artillery couldn't lay siege. A Herald summoned the city 'in bravado' and was promptly shot dead.

Frome in the 50s

Someone on the Frome group posted this. It's a capture from a film about the Austin A35

Annie Philippe » 🚖 « Pas de taxi (1967)

Heard this on Atlantic Tunnel last night.

The Saints - Lipstick On Your Collar (1977)

Susan told me there is a drinking game for the Saints where you take a shot every time Chris Bailey says 'come on'.

The Saints - Live 1977 (with high quality audio)

I never saw them live. Bought all their singles but didn't buy the album. The singles were great though and are some of the best punk songs.

Chris Bailey of the Saints RIP

 NME piece on the news

The singer of the Australian punk band the Saints has died.

Meanwhile in the Ukraine

Someone is tagging the defunct Russian tanks with 'Wolverines'. If you don't know the reference watch the trailer for Red Dawn (1984).

60 years ago Stuart Sutcliffe dies

On the subject of 60th anniversary events for the Beatles this one is a sad one. Original bass player Stuart Sutcliffe was living in Hamburg. He was 21.

Trip to Midsomer Norton station

it was steam today so we strolled up and enjoyed the Spring sunshine. Photos by Susan apart from the ones of her. My Grandfather was an engine driver on the Somerset and Dorset. Webpage.

The Wailers "Hang Up" 1966

First heard this song covered by the Cramps. It's a classic to be sure/ Wiki on the band

Bow Wow Wow - Baby Oh No 1982

This I like. But I have no recollection of it from the time which is strange as I was a fan buying the 12 inch and 7 inch versions but this must have slipped through the net somehow.  Bow wow wow wiki

Lonnie Johnson - Another Night to Cry 1963
