Joni Mitchell - Woodstock (Live In-Studio 1970)

Here. Susan is a Joni Mitchell fan. We discovered recently she lived in Frome in the 80s so we might have passed her in the street. This is the song about the festival.

Porthtowan summers

When I was a teen i used to spend my summers staying with my Uncle Graham in Porthtowan Cornwall. I did a variety of jobs collecting empty glasses at the Commodore pub or doing a milk round. We used to hang out at the Surf lifesaving shack. One year i think 76 the heath surrounding the village caught fire so we were beaters of the flames in the night. Travelling at break neck speed on a fire engine in the night clinging on for dear life. Good times.

Love My Little Red Book 1966

Not a Love fan but this is good.

The Day the Earth Caught Fire 1961

Here in full. This is an old British movie that Susan and I have watched many times and always enjoyed it. Perfect to watch when it is hot. Wiki here. A great look at newspaper creation using the real Daily Express building in Fleet street so good for us old printers.

Render Us Harmless Animals & Men 1979

A French band the Dictaphone are going to do a cover of this so asked me for the lyrics so I thought I would make a post about it. Our first self composed song to be recorded originally with me singing.

Render us Harmless

They sit and watch their sales rise

We see our movement fall

For they contribute nothing

And  they will take it all

We see them take everything

And while they take they render us harmless

And while they take they render us harmless

We’re put in terms of pounds and pence

Turned into stocks and shares

Diluted for the wider taste and nobody  seems to care

Chorus

The critics hold the key card

Make values rise and crash

They contrive our work for what they want

And turn us into cash

Chorus

70 Gwen Party Howard Hughes 1993

Another band we got to like from listening to Peely in the 90s was 70 Gwen Party. Not famous enough for a wikipedia page the Discogs entry describes them as Experimental rock band from UK, centered around guitarist Victor N'Dip.. They nearly had a record out on Mark E Smith's Cog Sinister label when they started out.

Fool to Cry Rolling Stones 1973

I like this one - have half memories of slow dancing to this as a teen.

Medieval - Official Trailer (2022)

Check out the trailer for Medieval, an upcoming movie starring Ben Foster, Sophie Lowe, Michael Caine, and Til Schweiger.

Inspired by the true story of Jan Žižka, one of the greatest warriors in history. After the death of its reigning emperor, the Holy Roman Empire is plummeting into chaos while feuding brothers King Wenceslas of Czech and King Sigismund of Hungary battled for control of the empty throne. Daring and righteous mercenary leader Jan Zizka (Ben Foster) is hired by Lord Boresh (Michael Caine) to kidnap the powerful Lord Rosenberg's (Til Schweiger) fiancée, Lady Katherine (Sophie Lowe), to prevent Rosenberg's rise to power alongside the corrupt King Sigismund. Jan believes that Kings are the right hand of God and should be respected and obeyed, no matter what.
As Katherine becomes caught in a dangerous political game between the monarchs, Jan falls in love with her strong spirit and dedication to saving the people. In a brave attempt to liberate her, he fights back with a rebel army to battle the corruption, greed, and betrayal rampant amongst those clawing for power. Jan now realizes that the fate of the Empire will be decided by his love for Lady Katherine and that his fate doesn’t lie in the hands of Kings, but in the hands of his own people.
The movie also stars Roland Møller, Matthew Goode, and William Moseley.
Medieval, directed by Petr Jákl, opens in theaters on September 9, 2022.

There are three tracks by this set up on tv,  the others are Writing on the Wall and Get out of Denver. All of them are phenomenal and never bettered. They were part of my youth when I was 16.

Rolling Stones Gather Moss (1964) | British Pathé

I thought we had better commemorate 60 years of the Rolling Stones. When I was young the kids at the park divided into Mods and Rockers - Mods liking the Beatles, Rockers the Rolling Stones. I would be on the Beatles side. But I was about 6!

Shakin Street - No Time To Lose - French TV may 1978
