Skids Masquerade 1979 (Top of the Pops)
Mickey Bradley played this and we enjoyed it. Didn't buy it at the time as I wasn't a fan. Apparently there is a Skids singles compilation coming out.

Apple Alley Frome
There are a lot of alleyways in Frome I can think of quite a few. This Sunday is the Frome independent market which sees the town swamped by people though I have never been. Unpopular with many residents as it doesn't really have any benefits to outweigh the inconvenience.
Baby Boy Warren Hello Stranger
I love this. This is the session details from Blues Reccords 1943-1966 mentioned below. As you see it's in Detroit with Sonny Boy in 1953-4, Baby Boy Warren played on the King Biscuit Time radio show in Helena Arkansas.

Mother
As well as Oak Apple Day today is our mother's birthday. Doreen. She came from Worcester to Midsomer Norton where they celebrate it so the significance was not lost on her. She was a keen cyclist in her youth travelling all over. Later in life she was a Justice of the Peace. She was political in her early life.
Oak Apple Day
Today we celebrate the Restoration - wiki
Where I live Midsomer Norton has a statue of Charles II on its church tower. Apparently (pdf)
''It is possible that Charles II visited Welton on two occasions. During the Restoration Sir Charles Harbord, the Duchy Surveyor, lived at the Manor House, and, as we have seen, it was hear Charles heard the peal of cracked bells. Some twelve years earlier, in 1651, there was a price on Charles’s head of £1000 and he was for several weeks on the run between Worcester and the south coast. Tradition has it that he was hidden for some time at the Old Farm in Welton.''

Olga Kurylenko as Etain | Centurion (2010)
Not a brilliant movie but Olga Kurylenko was very good in it. She starred in a film about Boudicca which got slated and I haven't seen it but I will possibly see it some time as I like the character.
Frank Sinatra sings It Was A Very Good Year (live from the 1965 TV special A Man And His Music)
Riley and Coe played this last night and it brought back memories. Our Dad was a fan and he saw him in 53 in Bristol a poorly attended gig.

Blow-Up (1966) Michelangelo Antonioni

Frome in the Commotion Time of 1549

cheap street Frome part of the old part
''At Frome, payment was made for
execution irons, 'wood for fire to burn the entrails', and a pan and trivet to seethe the
limbs; whilst similar payments were made at Mells, Beckington, Shepton Mallet, Wells,
and Glastonbury''
My sister found this great article on the events of 1549 'Commotion time': the English risings of 1549 - WRAP: Warwick Research Archive Portal
Frome started a wave of disturbances across Somerset and Wiltshire against enclosures - in Frome fences and hedges were torn up - some 200 rioters. I didn't know about this so thanks to Anne.

Doctors of Madness first TV performance live on the Twiggy Show in 1975
Susan was a big fan, seeing them live going backstage getting autographs that sort of thing. She says they were brilliant live. Had their PA draped in camo netting and used a lot of strobe. Violinist was called Urban Blitz. Enjoy!

Nico Sings Chelsea Girls in the Chelsea Hotel
Nico - Strip-Tease 1962 demo (Serge Gainsbourg)
Early vocal for Nico
Nico played the lead role in Jacques Poitrenaud’s 1963 Strip-Tease (aka Sweet Skin and Lady Strip Tease). Billed as "Krista Nico", she stars as German dancer Ariane, a character described by Poitrenaud as "a stripper lost in the nocturnal world." Serge Gainsbourg, who scored Strip-Tease (and makes an uncredited appearance sharing a piano with Big Joe Turner), recorded a demo of the title song with Nico in 1962, her earliest surviving recording. Juliette Greco’s voice was used on the finished version.
