I am a big fan of libraries. I got this book today from ours - it is very expensive to buy but it is ideal to borrow for a month or two.
Somerset carnivals are a unique tradition in England and this book provides a thoroughly researched history together with many fine illustrations of these now world famous events and the selfless people who commit so much of their lives to continuing the tradition. Each year one never fails to marvel at the latest creations assembled by the many "Clubs" just for a couple of weeks in the cold and dark of November, and this book recreates that atmosphere.
