Our eldest is in Weymouth today. She Sent me this pic. Weymouth was a major embarkation point for Allied armies in 1944.

Tens of thousands of Allied troops departed Weymouth and Portland for D-Day, bound for Omaha in Normandy. By the time the conflict in Europe had ended, 517,816 troops and 144,903 vehicles had been through the ports.[4]
