OK - guess the name of the battle depicted - tomorrow's anniversary fight - if you don't know anything about 18th century warfare then the war will do. Whatever the case enjoy the autumn foliage on this lovely painting and ensure that you get out to enjoy this season's displays.
OK if you didn't get it - it's the battle of Saratoga in New York State during the American Revolution. I went past the site at about the right time of year but we couldn't stop, so I was quite sad, but it's a beautiful region, anyway. The Brits lost and it was really the turning point in the war when the French joined in officially, and the beginning of the end for King George's forces.
