Mitchell and Webb farming Part 1

Here. 27 secs. This was a recurring gag but amusing. Frome had contacts with farming.

Post from 2006.

Last night Bea made up three cds of the best songs of last year - we do this every year - it always is a fun game and then we try and rate what our top five is - so I'll share some of our choices with you. I have to go with the Cardigans 'I need some fine wine and you you need to be nicer' for my top single - Susan chooses Sean PauTemperature. Also in there are the Yeah Yeah Yeahs Gold LionMorrissey You Have Killed Me. Other hits we liked included Wigwam Checking Out My Wigwam Beck Cellphone's Dead Hot Chip Over and OverThe Kills The Good Ones was popular with both Sue and I as being T-Rexy in a good way. Outkast'Idlewild Blue is of course a blues harp winner sounding almost Ike Turner ish and Amy Winehouse's Rehab scorched itself into our brains like everyone else. We (OK I) liked Deja Vu by Beyonce and the Raconteurs Steady As She Goes and Country Girls by Primal Scream although we're all a bit sick of it now. For some reason my lot like Lady Sovereign and chose Random (kids eh?) and I think most of us like You Don't Know by the various rappers. The Horrors Count in Fives made us fans and we learned to love CSS in particular Ala la.

Most of these videos are available by searching this Blog - I will post some more of our favourites - in the meantime Happy New Year

The Cramps 1984

This period 40 years ago saw the Cramps not releasing any new stuff until 1986. Such a shame. Contractual problems. Still played live and built their fan base but it was a blow.

J. T. Mitchard outside the Victoria Hall 1914

This is the first photo of my Grandad as a young man we have seen. Billiards trophy.  My Uncle Arthur's photo hence the tag Dad. He joined the Coldstream Guards later that year. He was a miner. Transferred to the Royal Engineers and back below ground.

This is what he did in WW1. Pic from the Osprey the War Underground which is excellent. Birthday present from Celia

Victoria Hall

This mug was given out to local schoolchildren in 1997.

The Victoria Hall was originally called some thing like the Working Men's Hall but was changed. It used to house a library and reading room with Billiard tables too.

Here. A clip from Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid one of my favourite Westerns in tribute to Kris Kristofferson who played Billy. Film is up in its entirety for free on Youtube.

Old Old Radstock

I created a Facebook group Old Radstock many years ago. Still going. 5.2k members. Nice and friendly.  Not all locals. A lot of railway buffs out there like Radstock.

Ramones Pet Sematary (video) 1989

Here. Apparently Stephen King was a Ramones fan. Susan hated this film. Just was a little too horrific for her at the time. Young parents get sensitive.

Animals & Men 2006

This was a crazy day. An Ants tribute show. In Soho. We brought a minibus full of people. Someone paid our parking fee which was nice. Brought cider and took over the dressing room. About 2006. Fun though. Met some interesting people. Took our son who was underage but no one said anything. About 6 bands on the bill. Did 3 Ant covers, B-side Baby, it Doesn't matter and Plastic Surgery. Organised by Madam Stan.

Hillsbridge Quartet

Listening to an audio book from the library. Number 3 of the Hillsbridge quartet. If you don't know them they are a series of 4 novels set in a fictionalized version of Radstock. Book one Black Mountains is set during World War One the second during the General Strike and this one the Second World War. They are worth a read. Or a listen. Audio books are fun as the narrator does the local accents. Great stuff.
