This is probably my favourite Reigning Sound song.  From the album Time Bomb Highschool

Joe Hill Louis - Gotta Let You Go - 1950

From Youtube 'The history of Sun Records begins here. Sun founder Sam C. Phillips and Memphis dee-Jay Dewey Phillips (no relation, believe it or not!) pooled their efforts and resources to record, press, and distribute 300 copies of this record by one-man blues band Joe Hill Louis.'

Midsomer Norton High Street after dark

There are lots of food places on the High Street. Place is quite different after dark. I got Susan to take this. In this is a chip shop, a curry place and a Chinese. Opposite is pizza.

Pee Wee Ellis RIP

Someone who was a big presence locally.

Radsonic - Weird out west 1992

Radsonic were Phil and Tim of Radstock - Phil lived next door to us at Whitelands and they had a small studio which they rented in Radstock. They brought out a 12 inch single Ace of Raves (sampling Motorhead) and this one based on KLF's Grim Up North. It's very good. At one party at the time they did a version of this live. Good times.

Nirvana - In Bloom

Well as it is the anniversary.

Nevermind Nirvana 30th

It is this album's 30th anniversary.  I liked it when I heard it but can't remember where or when I first heard it.

Electric Warrior 50th

I expect you have seen that it is this album's 50th today. Jeepster came out in November. I didn't know this album at the time - I was only 11 but Susan liked it. She was older and was well into T Rex by then.

The Saints - Know your product (1978)

Funny thing about this record is that I don't remember it from the time. Bought their previous singles but for some reason this missed me. I must have decided they were over or something. Anyway it's good.

Martin Carthy - Homegrown Concert

16 Jun 2021. Thanks to Neil for this.

Martin Carthy has been a leading figure in the revival of English folk music since the 1960s. He has been a member of many iconic formations, including the duo of Martin Carthy and Dave Swarbrick, the a cappella harmony group The Watersons, the pioneering electric folk-rock groups Steeleye Span and the Albion Band, the groundbreaking folk and brass combo Brass Monkey, and the acoustic folk groups Waterson: Carthy and Wood Wilson Carthy. He is also one of the most influential solo artists in folk music, with a guitar style emulated by practically all English folk guitarists since the 1970s. His versions of many traditional folksongs have become standards in the revival. He has also been influential in America: it was Martin who taught Paul Simon the traditional ballad “Scarborough Fair” in the 1960s. Among many other awards and honors, Martin has been awarded an MBE for services to Folk Music, roughly equivalent to receiving a National Heritage Fellowship in the United States.

Battle of Valmy, 20 September 1792

From the film "La Révolution française (1989) Part 2".

The Battle of Valmy was the first major victory by the army of France during the Revolutionary Wars that followed the French Revolution. The action took place on 20 September 1792 as Prussian troops commanded by the Duke of Brunswick attempted to march on Paris. Generals François Kellermann and Charles Dumouriez stopped the advance near the northern village of Valmy in Champagne-Ardenne.

Haven't seen this yet. I have only just heard of it. Looks good.

Count Five - Psychotic Reaction

We had a band called Psychotic Reaction for about 6 months.

Tank Chats - the Matilda Mark 1 - the Tank Museum

One of the more successful British tanks of the Battle of France.   We used to wargame the Battle of France in 1979 and I would have loved a model of this. Lancer miniatures do a nice one in resin.

Bound for Glory (1976) trailer

This Woody Guthrie biopic wasn't too bad - not as good as the book obviously but I enjoyed it as a teen.

Frome Cheese Show 1955

It's the day today of the Frome show more commonly called the Cheese show. An agricultural show with tents displaying cheese hence the name. Not now but it used to be a big day in the calendar of North Somerset and school children used to get the day off. Culmination of the week was the Carnival and the fair would be in town during the week too. Saturday night at the fair after the Carnival was a wild time. Heady stuff for the small market town. I worked on a stall at the Cheese show one year. Big mistake. Got about a quid. It was next door to a set up demonstrating electric organs and they played the same tune all day. It was torture.
